New Portfolio Site!

After some debate, I've decided to switch gears with this here blog, and just have some fun posting whatever (and whenever) I feel like. You can now check out my design portfolio and resume/profile on Krop, by going to WWW.ANDERSPAULSEN.COM. I'm still working on getting some up-to-date projects posted, but given the new format I think I'll be a bit more inclined to put in the effort. Cheers for now!

Back in Action... Soon-ish.

Well, it's been a long while since my last post, but I've returned to continue efforts of world domination. Phase 1: The development of my Design Portfolio. New work up soon!? I hope so too.

Pixel Illustration

Inspired by Eboy illustrations, I designed this pull-out spread for a magazine project that focused on providing simple steps to reducing our impact on the environment. The concept of portraying simple elements like oversized pixels to produce a complex illustration seemed well suited as an analogy for the content's intention of creating an environmental and social impact on the way we live.

Typographic Design

This booklet design was a Typography project, documenting the history of Emigre Magazine and Type Foundry. The booklet discusses the historical impact of designers Zuzana Licko and Rudy Vanderlans on today's typographic design, features interviews with the designers, and showcases covers and layouts from all 69 issues of their former magazine.

Design Thinkers

Another third year project, this is a program design for the 2005 Design Thinkers conference. The concept portrays an 'open mind' being divided by the left and right sides of the brain on the gate fold style cover page. Dimensions match those of a dvd case.

Informative Packaging

This is an Information Design project that I did in my third year at ACAD. The idea was to illustrate 'How-to' instructions. I chose 'How to Assemble a Skateboard', and decided to apply the design to the back of griptape. Originally I had used kind of a generic griptape branding, but later changed it to Popwar to play around with giving it more of a contemporary feel.

Archiving The Old...

For starters, over the next few days I'll be posting some school work from my time spent at ACAD. Since I recently let my hosting package at apdesign.ca run out (in attempt to force myself into designing a new site), I've just been digging through some of the content files that were still on my computer. Should be up shortly.
